Have you always wanted to give something to the St Maarten community but are not sure how? The St Maarten Sea Rescue Foundation welcomes new members!
Join our cause and become a member of our team. We have two weekly meetings in our office at Bobbys Marina in Philipsburg and you are welcome to stop by, meet the team and talk about how to become a volunteer.
You will not regret being a member of our team – volunteers with one shared goal “saving lives!”.
For any trained crew member it is very important to have the support from your home front. Your phone could ring at any moment, day or night, and off you go – to unknown waters not knowing when you will be back home.
Being a member of the St Maarten Sea Rescue Foundation means that some affinity with the ocean and water in general is probably a good thing. Based on your needs additional training will be offered. From fist aid to boat handling, navigation and other scheduled courses are part of being a member. Some of these courses take place in our Rescue office while some are done with your feet getting wet. Our crew members are all have valid first aid (EFR) and some have their VHF license or St Maarten boating license.
Our courses are generally given by the members to the members.
Interested but no sea legs?
Not all members of the St Maarten Sea Rescue Foundation had the urge to go out on the water, day or night, but are still of unprecedented value to the foundation. On shore members are involved in the maintenance of the vessels, arrange fund raising, communicate with sponsors and help where needed.
These members are as important to the foundation as the ones that have their phone on standby 24/7 and are part of the team like any other! Want to be involved in any on shore task feel free to contact us.

What to expect?
Being a member of the St Maarten Sea Rescue Foundation you can expect to be part of a great team that is always ready to help others in need.
What do we expect?
Dedication is key. Without a dedicated group of members we cannot offer our 24/7 life saving services to the boating community.
Twice per week our members get together in our Philipsburg office for training, meetings and maintenance. If you are interested in becoming a member please feel free to pass by on Wednesday evening at 8pm or Saturday afternoon at 2pm.
